BOHOL • JUNE 7-14, 2026
The quintessential dive destination (with accompanying dive resort) does exist. Welcome to Bohol, Philippines and the Magic Oceans Dive Resort.
What to expect? A region that is quiet, uncrowded, and free from the standard tourists traps. Breathtaking wall dives (maybe a poor choice of words when referring to scuba), “legit” coral reefs (not just chunks of mangled coral amongst the rubble bottom), and world-class muck dives for those who seek the weird and wild. A boutique ocean-front property featuring lush grounds, well-appointed cottages, and spa services. Diving, accommodations plus meals all packaged at an affordable price (aka mega bang-for-the-buck).
Bohol stands as a prime example in island versatility, offering a high-octane blend of prehistoric landscapes and pristine coastal assets. The interior is defined by the iconic Chocolate Hills (a geological phenomenon that is visually bizarre yet void of Willy Wonka), while the surrounding countryside provides land tours featuring ancient stone churches and dense mahogany forests. This is an environment engineered for the traveler who demands substance over hype, delivering a sharp, sophisticated experience that balances rugged exploration with effortless logistical flow.
Shift the focus to the southeastern tip, where Anda operates as the ultimate hidden sanctuary. This is not for the average vacationer; it is a destination for those seeking a chill, low-profile vibe without sacrificing world-class quality. The real draw lies beneath the surface along the staggering limestone cliffs. Anda's legendary wall diving and vibrant coral reefs offer vertical drops and marine biodiversity that put other dive destinations to shame. Expect crystal-clear visibility, massive fans, and an underwater topography designed for total immersion. This is peak coastal luxury for the discerning explorer: raw, quiet, and undeniably superior.

PHILIPPINES
The Philippines is an archipelagic country (a fancy way of saying it is mostly islands) of Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. The archipelago consists of about 7,640 islands and islets. The Philippines are categorized under three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The Philippines is bounded by the South China Sea to the west, the Philippine Sea to the east, the Celebes Sea to the southwest, and shares maritime borders with Taiwan to the north, Japan to the northeast, Palau to the east and southeast, Indonesia to the south, Malaysia and Brunei to the southwest, Vietnam to the west, and China to the northwest. Basically, it is surrounded by the best diving in the world.
The Philippines covers an area of 120,000 sq mi and, as of 2024, had a population of around 118 million people, making it the world's thirteenth-most populous country (fortunately almost all those people reside outside of Bohol). The Philippines is a multinational state, with diverse ethnicities and cultures throughout its islands. Manila is the nation's capital, but nearby Quezon City is the country’s most populous city. Both are part of the National Capital Region (Metro Manila).
The island of Bohol (in the Central Visayas region) is a 90-minute flight south of Manila. And the town of Anda (home to Magic Oceans Dive Resort) is located 73 miles (about 2.5hr drive) east of the Bohol international airport. The island is bordered by Cebu in the west, Leyte in the northeast, and the Bohol Sea in the south.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE
The Philippines has a tropical climate that is usually hot and humid. There are three seasons: a hot dry season (summer) from March to May, a rainy season from June to November, and a cool dry season (winter) from December to February. The southwest monsoon lasts from May to October, and the northeast monsoon from November to April. Temperatures usually range from 70°F to 90°F. On average, April is the driest month of the year with approximately 1.6" of precipitation. The warmest month in Bohol is May, while January is the coldest. Although historically June has been considered the start of the “wet” season, recent changes in global climate have reduced the month’s total precipitation. October to June is the main diving season in Bohol.

MAGIC OCEANS DIVE RESORT
Nestled along the quiet, mangrove-lined coastline of Anda on the island of Bohol, Magic Oceans Dive Resort functions as a precision-engineered hub for underwater exploration. The architecture prioritizes seamless transitions between terrestrial luxury and aquatic utility, featuring traditional Filipino thatched roofing juxtaposed against a state-of-the-art dive center. Strategically positioned far from the high-traffic tourist corridors of the central Philippines, the facility emphasizes a secluded, systematic approach to hospitality, where the layout of the sixteen detached bungalows ensures a high degree of privacy and acoustic separation for guests.
The resort’s primary focus is the immediate accessibility of the Anda house reef, a subterranean expanse characterized by a steep wall drop-off and a high density of macro-biodiversity. This logistical advantage is complemented by a structured diving operation that caters to both recreational and technical requirements, utilizing custom-built "bangkas" to access over thirty nearby dive sites. Beyond the waterline, the resort maintains a controlled environment of relaxation, featuring a freshwater pool and an open-air restaurant that integrates local culinary traditions with international standards, all designed to facilitate physical recovery between subaquatic excursions.

DIVING
Diving in and around Anda, Bohol, is defined by a 10-mile stretch of nearly continuous reef system that hosts approximately 30 distinct dive sites. This region is distinguished by its dramatic underwater topography, which includes steep coral-festooned walls, small caves, and shallow plateaus that transition into sandy slopes. Marine life is exceptionally diverse, offering encounters with iconic "bucket-list" macro species such as pygmy seahorses, blue-ringed octopuses, and a vast array of nudibranchs, alongside frequent sightings of green sea turtles and seasonal visits from whale sharks. Water conditions are generally optimal year-round, with temperatures consistently in the 80s and visibility often allowing dive buddies to venture way too far. What makes Anda truly special is its relative seclusion from mass tourism; the dive sites remain uncrowded, often allowing a single boat to occupy an entire reef, which ensures the pristine condition of the hard and soft coral gardens and provides a tranquil, immersive experience within the Coral Triangle.
Muck, reef, and wall dives are conducted via boat. Magic Oceans Dive Resort house reef is accessed by shore entry.

WIDE ANGLE
A week filled with only muck and macro isn’t everyone’s ideal dive vacation. Luckily there are fantastic wide angle dive opportunities as well. Wall and reef diving in and around Anda, Bohol, is characterized by a continuous coral system that transitions from shallow, sun-drenched plateaus into dramatic vertical drop-offs. The region features steep karst limestone walls adorned with enormous gorgonian sea fans, sponges, and vibrant soft corals. These structures provide a complex habitat for a vast array of marine life, ranging from macro specialties like pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs nestled in the crevices to larger residents such as green and hawksbill sea turtles often found resting on the reef ledges. What distinguishes Anda is its status as a relatively "hidden gem" within the Coral Triangle; the lack of heavy boat traffic ensures that the reef gardens remain in pristine condition, offering a tranquil environment where divers can often explore entire wall sections without encountering other groups.

DIVE FACILITIES
Scuba diving requires a significant amount of specialized equipment, which necessitates ample physical space for assembly, organization, and maintenance. Whether it is preparing camera systems or organizing life-support gear, divers require a functional environment to manage their "toys." Magic Oceans Dive Resort was designed and constructed with this requirement in mind, featuring a spacious dive shop, dedicated camera room, classroom, and equipment room, as well as expansive dive boats. However, a premier dive resort must provide more than just square footage. To ensure optimal safety and convenience the equipment room is highly secure and well-ventilated to facilitate proper drying and protection of gear, professional staff manage the handling and preparation of all equipment, ensuring everything is ready for both house reef shore dives and boat excursions, and detailed briefings are conducted prior to every dive to maximize guest safety and underwater enjoyment. By integrating thoughtful design with comprehensive service, Magic Oceans Dive Resort allows divers to focus entirely on their underwater experience.

Participants will find themselves suspended high above the water, zip-lining across the massive gorge and back again to get the heart racing—though a cable car option remains available for those preferring a steady aerial view. The energy continues through the afternoon, beginning with a transition to the Loboc River cruise for a well-earned buffet lunch and live music while drifting through lush tropical scenery. After refueling, the tour heads into the rugged terrain surrounding the world-famous Chocolate Hills. In 2011, the fishermen of Tan-Awan (near Oslob) discovered that whale sharks were appearing daily to feed on their by-catch which was thrown off the boats. The fishermen started inviting divers to see the whale sharks which then turned into a small tourist attraction. Soon after, the government sanctioned the feeding of the whale sharks in Oslob, and tourism in the area grew. The whale shark encounter allows tourists and locals alike to experience time in the water via snorkeling or diving. Whale sharks are the largest fish in the ocean and can grow up to 40' in length. In Oslob, most of the whale sharks commonly seen are approximately 16' long – they are only juveniles! Marine scientists study the creatures daily to ensure that they are kept healthy and safe amidst the feeding, and also to learn more about these magnificent creatures.
